Pro Tools is now qualified for Big Sur
March 25th 2021 finally brings us compatability for MacOS Big Sur with v 2021.3.
The update should be live in your accounts right now so feel free to take it for a spin.
As always, we recommend that you make a Time Machine backup of your system before making up updates, or you can always uninstall and reinstall your previous version, as all versions are still available in your Avid Master account.
New updates
The 2021.3 release brings us a couple of significant inclusions:
• Big Sur compatability.
• Virtual MIDI Keyboard
Although now qualified for MacOS Big Sur, formal M1 Silicon qualification has yet to be given.
However, some of have been using Pro Tools 2020.12 on an M1 chipset using the lowest Mac Mini (256GB, 8GB RAM), and the performance is stellar.
You’ll be able to see a stress test run right here with one of our sessions and a bunch of very chunky plugins added to see how far we could go.
A lovely Virtual MIDI Keyboard has been added so that users without access to a MIDI controller can programme in basic MIDI performances using the QWERTY keyboard.
Andy was so excited about this, he wanted to show it off himself in an …As an aside(chain) video, which you can see right here.
Have a good time with it.
